Overview

The Upper Hull Pressure Vessel is the sealed system that contains all of the internal electronics in a safe environment. In this case, this means an environment that is cool and dry. This system is mounted to the rest of the vehicle and uses bore o-ring seals to remain watertight. Since these electronics are in a sealed environment, the Upper Hull Pressure Vessel must also utilize water-proof connectors to interface with the other components such as battery pods, thrusters, and sensors.

The UHPV consists of the rear endcap, hull collar, acrylic hull, front endcap, sapphire viewport, and viewport sealing collar. The endcap interfaces with the sealing collar by way of a double bore seal, the sealing collar is epoxied to the hull, the hull is epoxied to the front endcap, and the sapphire is sealed to the hull by way of a face seal held in place by the viewport sealing collar. The upper hull slides off of the cantilever rack on acrylic guides.
