Bench Power Box

Datasheet

The Bench Power Box provides the vehicle with an unlimited runtime during testing on the bench. When used instead of the battery pods the box provides the same amount of stable power to the vehicle while saving battery cycles for pool tests. The Bench Power Box is also portable and ruggedized for dockside use.

The box contains a Mean Well SP-320-24 power supply (320W, 24V) mounted in a pelican case. The power supplied by the box is monitored and reported by a modified battery pod board, allowing the same means of interfacing with the vehicle. The bench power box plugs into the cables used by the battery pods and can be hot swapped with the batteries allowing the vehicle to transition from bench to batteries without needing to power down. The bench power box also displays its status on a Crystalfontz CFA-634 LCD mounted into the top of the box. The power switch, Seacon cable connector, AC power input, fuse holder, and cooling fans finish out the electronics in the box.

All of the components in the box mount to a metal base plate. This metal panel attaches to the Pelican case panel frame with another plastic panel above it for protection. The plastic panel is laser cut from 1/8” acrylic and the metal panel is waterjet cut from 1/8” aluminum. The panels feature a covered storage compartment with a hinged door to store the power cables during transportation.

To use the Bench Power Box all that is required is a standard AC power cable. After the box is plugged in to an outlet and the vehicle battery cable is connected the lighted power switch turns on the box and the vehicle.
